This is part of a proposal for WaterML 1.2 and CUAHSI HIS search services. It addresses the recently expressed needs of the project and its partners: enabling authentication/authorization; processing large volumes of data; integration with OpenSearch interface; and unification between WaterOneFlow and HISCentral services. In addition, we adhere to a more flexible definition of time series, given the differences between ODM, agency databases (where not all ODM-defined properties may be present) and CZO data (where series may include Title, and also vertical offset), as well as persistent management of data series. Yet additional requirement is ease of eventual transition to WaterML 2.0 specification.
The focus of this document is requirements for search services, and consequences for WaterML 1.2.
