What is ASP.Net 2.0

From Wikipedia - ASP.NET is a web application framework marketed by Microsoft that programmers can use to build dynamic web sites, web applications and XML web services. ASP.Net is part of the Microsoft .NET Framework, which is a component of the Windows operating system. ASP.Net is required to run the CUAHSI ODM Web Services.

Installing ASP.Net 2.0

Use the following instructions to ensure that ASP.Net is installed and configured on a Windows XP Professional machine:

  • Ensure that you have already installed IIS.
  • Ensure that the Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 has been installed. ASP.Net 2.0 is part of the .Net Framework and will not be avaialable until you have installed it. If you already installed Microsoft SQL Server Express, you should have the .Net Framework installed.
  • If you followed the order of installation for the HIS Server Lite components, it is likely that ASP.Net 2.0 is already installed and active on your machine. At this point you can try to install and configure the CUAHSI ODM web services. If you are unsuccessful with the web services, doing the following will likely solve many problems.
    • Open a command prompt window by clicking on Start and then Run. In the Run window, type "cmd" in the "Open:" text box and then click OK.
    • In the command prompt window that opens, navigate to the directory in which the .Net Framework 2.0 is installed. This is likely "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727".
    • Run the following command to ensure that ASP.Net 2.0 is installed and configured correctly "C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727>aspnet_regiis.exe -i".
