Upon receiving a new machine:
¶
Partition Drives
:
C: (Local Disk) drive with OS
O: (Data)
P: (Applications)
We are trying to keep the GIS data, and databases from filling up the main disk.
Install Operating System (Windows 2003 Server R2)
Choose the components to install and include Appliction Server, with IIS, ASP.NET, with an SMTP service
Configure/Update OS

Configure the network connection
Go to Network properties....detailed explination
Using "Windows Update" download and install Service Pack 2
Using "Windows Update" download and install all security fixes
Using "Windows Update" download and install .Net framework 2.0
If IIS isn't already installed, use the "Add Remove Windows components" and add IIS.
Configure ASPNET 2.0 for iis:
Go to start->programs->Microsoft .NET Framework SDK v2.0->command prompt
type "aspnet_regiis.exe -i"
Install Software Components
(In this sequence)
Install SQL Server 2005 Standard
Sql Server Management Studio
If Memory is > 4 gig enable AWE. Limit SQL server to (Server Memory - 2 gigs)
Configure to create databases on:
Data: O:\SQLData
Log: O:\SQLData
SQL Server and Windows Authentication
Temp Database File on "O" drive
Install Visual Studio 2005 Professional or Team Edition
VS 2005 Team Explorer
Install ArcGIS Desktop
Install ArcGIS Server 9.2
ArcGIS .NET ADF
Service Pack 2
Install ArcGIS Editor (configured for single use key)
Install Adobe Acrobat Reader
Copy Data and Applicatons Files onto drives
Copy Data
NWIS_DailyValues ODM database
NWIS_IID ODM database
Copy Applications
GenericOD Webservices
DASH
ODMTools
ODDataLoader
ODMSDL
GetSites Tool
XMLViewEdit
Install Custom Applications
Install ODMTools
Install ODDataLoader
Install GetSites Tool
Attach provided ODM to database
Attach NWIS_DailyValues
Attach NWIS_IID
Create ArcGIS Server MapServices
Create BaseMap Service using basemap.mxd
Create Networks Service using Networks.mxd
Configure DASH
Set up web share / web application for the DASH folder
Set folder permissions
Open Web application using Visual Studio
Edit the web.config file * remove existing identity tags.
Edit the bin/HISNetworks.xml configuration file.
Make changes to connection strings used for NWIS_DailyValues and NWIS_IID
Test Setup
Open DASH application: http://localhost/dash
Zoom in and use the HISidentify on both NWIS_IID and NWIS_DailyValues networks
Chart and download data for both networks
Do a multiselection for both networks
Download a datacart for both networks
